Formerly known as Sturgeon & Son, Sturgeon Services International (SSI) was founded in 1927 by Henry Sturgeon. What began as an earthwork company has grown, over nearly a century, into a full-spectrum heavy-civil contractor serving clients across California and the Permian Basin of West Texas and New Mexico. We pride ourselves on being a "one-stop shop" — from earthwork and grading to demolition, well and facility abandonment, centrifuge, and rathole drilling, we do it all, safely.
Though we started in the oilfield, our work now reaches well beyond it. SSI delivers grading, demolition, transportation, and support services to oil & gas, commercial, industrial, agricultural, and government clients across California and Texas.
SSI operates from two headquarters — Bakersfield, California and Midland, Texas — supported by field locations throughout both regions, including Ventura, Inglewood, Coalinga, Taft, Huntington Beach, San Ardo, Santa Monica, Gaviota, Lost Hills, Elk Hills, and Maricopa in California; Stateline, Nevada; and Carlsbad, New Mexico.
